Ha-ha! the V-Day way [Feb. 14th, 2007|09:43 pm]

xkcd's take on Valentine's Day.

And I thought that Beaver and Steve's comic today was also very lovely. Lucy, maybe you should go into the V-Day card-making business, eh?

Peace,

That is SO awesome. I never thought of the possibilites of monsters and Valentine's Day...The "card" I posted is truly amazing, though. Still, Valentine's Day is sort of inane. Not for any better reaons, there are just no excuses to eat feasts, or listen to fine music and pretend you're catholic, or have trees and dress up weirdly and pretend you're pagan, or have presents and be born or pretend you're christian.

Haha, I thought you'd like it. Happy V-Day by the way, and happy St. Valentine's Day too.

Wait, I didn't understand the last sentence. "Not for any better reasons, there are just no exuses..." That bit.

Anyway, I hope you're doing well. What're you up to, and when will you next be out in the Land of Oak? (Conveniently located next to the Land O' Lakes.)

Peace,
- Benjamin

Ah, by better I meant bitter (Betty Boda bought some butter...) because that is of course the classic reason for hating Valentine's Day. It's just sort of inane, I feel.

Dunno! Those lands sound nice, though.

And you were saying you don't think there's any reason to celebrate the other holidays if one isn't pagan, Christian, Catholic, whatever?

Ha, I am definitely Christian enough to celebrate Christmas and Easter. I am actually rather in favor of both holidays in their Christianized versions... and probably the pagan versions, too. I mean, I think Pagan Christmas was sort of the same thing... avatar is born, kinda thing. Or maybe it was just kinda a rebirth-of-the-light kind of thing, but that could include the birth of an avatar. I'm not certain.

And personally, I don't think people need a lot of excuse to feast.

I hear that Catie, good upstanding UU that she is, celebrates almost EVERYONE's big holidays. I think that's pretty cool.

Peace,
